Reigning champion Roger Federer says Andy Murray is favourite to win Wimbledon - and end a 77-year British men's singles drought.

Federer will chase an eighth All England Club victory, but proclaimed the world No 2 Scot as the man to beat.

"He actually got much stronger," Federer said.

"That's why he increased his chances now by winning big tournaments.

"He did so at the Olympics, the US Open. Now he's the favorite every tournament he goes into around the world."

Federer has built a colossal Wimbledon 66-7 record, but will have to overcome nemesis Rafael Nadal and Murray to succeed again.

The Swiss is clearly impressed with Murray.

"He's physically superb," Federer said.

"He plays well. He's got crowd support here. He loves the US Open, Australia. "

"He's grown up on clay, as well. Everything seems very natural for him. "

"He doesn't only give himself one or two chances throughout the year to win grand slams, but multiple ones. "

"I always figured he was going to win one. "

"Somehow I thought it was going to be Wimbledon before the finals last year."
